Vic: National holiday road toll at 59 after girl's death

The death of a two-year-old girl in a police chase in Sydney has taken the holiday
season national road toll to 59.

Only hours before the year ended .. a car police believed to have been involved in
two armed robberies .. crashed into another car on the Hume Highway at Ingleburn.

Attempts to rescue the badly injured girl failed and she was pronounced dead on arrival
at Liverpool Hospital.

The parents of the girl have minor injuries and were also taken to hospital.

Two men have been arrested.
