Qld: Asbestos problem in schools
Queensland parliament has been told that more than 1,100 state schools still haveasbestos in their buildings.
Education Minister ANNA BLIGH says there are 1,171 schools on the state's asbestos register.
Ms BLIGH says the bulk of the non-hazardous asbestos is in cladding which has beenmaintained to prevent health risks.
She says she's advised that no state schools in Queensland contain asbestos which currentlyposes a health risk.
Queensland Council of Parents and Citizens Association president GARRY CISLOWSKI sayshe knowsof two schools need the complete removal of their asbestos.
Mr CISLOWSKI says he understands the June state budget may include funding to cleanup the two schools.
