Rogers Will Replace Perez In Yanks' Starting Rotation

TAMPA Fla. Kenny Rogers is back in and Melido Perez is out ofthe New York Yankees' starting rotation.

Yankees manager Joe Torre said Perez will return to New Yorktoday to have his right arm examined by team physician StuartHershon. Perez had a subpar performance in a minor-league intrasquadgame Sunday.

Torre said Rogers, who had been demoted to the bullpen a dayearlier, will start in Perez's place Saturday against the TexasRangers. Torre said Perez will be sent to the bullpen if the testresults show no serious problems."I told him we're not thinking about the disabled list," Torresaid.
