Fed: Parliament gives green light to uranium sales to China

A parliamentary committee has given the green light for Australian uranium sales to
China .. opening the door to an annual export windfall of 250-million dollars.

But opponents warn it'll see Australian uranium being used in nuclear weapons.

Australian Conservation Foundation campaigner DAVID NOONAN says once uranium is out
of our hands .. it's out of our control.

Meanwhile .. industry experts say uranium mining is positive for the Australian economy
.. but adverse government policy and a lack of skilled workers could slow its growth.

NEIL ARTHUR .. chairman of Uranium Exploration Australia .. says the industry's in
the midst of a revival after a 30-year absence.
